CAPTURING THE COSMOS, 2024
How can creative photography foster awareness and inclusion of underrepresented communities within International Dark Sky Parks?
How can photography reveal and integrate underrepresented narratives in the work of a science communication charity in Northern England?
This work captures the experiences of dark skies, co-produced with underrepresented audiences at Kielder Observatory. It co-creates new photographs informed by the dark-sky experiences of diverse, hard to reach communities at Kielder Observatory Astronomy Society, in Northumberland International Dark Sky Park.
Commissioned by Kielder Observatory for 'The North East Astro-Imaging Academy,' Capturing the Cosmos was funded by Mindsets + Missions (AHRC), supporting community engagement with museums and science centres. Delivered by UKRI, Association for Science and Discovery Centres, The Liminal Space and Museums Association.
